Car E-charger Installations
An electric car charging station supplies electric energy to charge electric vehicles including cars, trucks, and buses. While there are commercial charging stations where you can get your electric vehicle charged, you can also opt to have an electric charging outlet installed in your home or commercial space. This charger is installed into a standard wall outlet connected to your electric mains. Andy Smith Electrical can help install electric car chargers wherever you want them to be. Our e-charger installation experts install various types of electric car charging pod points. These highly trained electricians understand electric vehicles and various types of home charging units which enables them to assist with a safe and efficient installation.

What We Install?
There are different types and models of electric car chargers all with different specifications. However, for home or light commercial use, the most common option is either a tethered charger that comes with its own cables or an untethered universal charger that does not come with a cable but can connect to different types of cables. The tethered e-charger may come paired with a type 1 or type 2 cable. For universal chargers, you can choose the cable type you want to pair with them.
How Long Does E-Charger Installation Take?
Every e-charger installation is unique. However, a standard installation should only take a few hours. We should be able to complete your e-charger installation in a day’s work. However, if some unexpected reasons we are unable to complete the installation, we will reschedule a new installation date and send you a new quotation for the extra work. Typically, a survey will be carried out to determine the scope of work that needs to be done to install your e-charging unit. Usually, if the additional work is a minor one, we may still be able to fit it into our installation schedule for the day and complete it there and then. However, if significant extra work needs to be done, we will schedule a later date and get back to you with a new quote.
What Is Our E-Charger Installation Process Like?
Our services begin right from your first call to us. In some cases, we may need to set up an initial consultation but this is not always necessary. We can proceed to schedule an installation date for your project. When this has been determined, our installer will call you in advance to confirm the set time and date. When we arrive, we will assist you with choosing the best position to install your charger based on your preferred parking spot for your car and proximity to the power supply. The charger will be positioned and fixed while the cable will be clipped on the wall. We will have to turn off your power supply to connect the charger and RCBO to your electrical mains. Once the connection has been completed, your power supply will be turned back on and necessary safety tests will be carried out to ensure the charger is ready for use. We will also demonstrate how to use the charger and offer basic guidelines on how to use and maintain it.
